Eco-friendly corrugated cardboard at Labelprint24

Our cardboard boxes are made from environmentally friendly corrugated cardboard, which is produced through paper processing. Corrugated cardboard gains strength and durability through the fluting process, where at least one corrugated (fluted) web is glued between two smooth paper webs.

A single-sided glued corrugated board features one corrugated web with smooth paper on both sides. When both the top and bottom webs are smooth, it’s called single-wall corrugated board. Combining different flutes results in double-flute or triple-flute corrugated boards, offering varying strengths.

The type of flute depends on its pitch (t), the distance between flutes, and flute height (h). Common flute types at Labelprint24 include E-flute, B-flute, and EB-flute, each suited to different packaging needs based on their dimensions and characteristics.

Characteristics of the E-flute

The E-wave, also known as fine wave or microwave, features a flute pitch of 2.6 to 3.5 millimetres and a flute height of 1.0 to 1.9 millimetres. It is highly regarded for its excellent printability, making it a popular choice among packaging manufacturers. Its versatile application across various sectors, especially for high-quality goods, makes the E-flute an ideal option for sales packaging that combines aesthetic presentation with durability.

Advantages of the E-flute

The E-wave is highly popular due to its smooth surface. When the flutes are closer together and have a smaller height (h), the outer surface appears smoother, which is particularly important for printing. Larger wave heights and pitches can distort images, but the E-flute ensures sharp, detailed, and vibrant prints. 

This makes it especially suitable for product packaging where clear readability of logos, names, and product information is essential. Additionally, the smooth surface enhances colour intensity, making your packaging more attractive and eye-catching.

EB-flute – double-flute for strength and printability

The E-flute is often combined with other flute types to create multi-flute corrugated board. At Labelprint24, we offer the EB flute, which combines an E and B flute. This double-flute structure features three smooth and two fluted paper webs, for a total of five webs, with the top and bottom layers made of E-flute to ensure excellent print quality. Despite its enhanced stability and high load capacity of up to 30 kg, the EB-flute remains very versatile and excellent for printing.
