What is a FEFCO 0216 folding carton?
Compared to a conventional folding box made of corrugated cardboard, boxes with the FEFCO code 0216 are closed at the bottom with a plug-in base – this is a stable, plug-in base construction that does not require additional adhesive tape. To close the box base, only four tabs need to be slotted together after the box has been erected. This means that even single-wall shipping boxes with tuck-in bases have a very high load-bearing capacity and offer maximum security for the packaged goods.
FEFCO 0216 boxes are delivered flat and can therefore be stored in a space-saving manner. Their ease of handling makes them the ideal packaging for shipping and storage, as they are easy to stack and can withstand even heavy pressure. With corporate design printing, they can also be used as product packaging or visually appealing secondary packaging.
Folding carton with tuck-in base
Unlike automatic bottoms, plug-in bottoms are not glued and do not close automatically during assembly. Instead, they consist of four differently shaped tabs located on the underside of the box, which can be plugged together in just a few simple steps.
First, fold in the C-shaped long flap, then fold in the side flaps and close the base by inserting the tip of the opposite trapezoidal flap into the recess of the C-flap. The plug-in base has a self-locking design – when weight is applied from above, the flaps press more firmly into each other.
A closed plug-in base can be easily unfolded again – to do this, press down on the centre of the base until the trapezoidal flap slips out of the C-flap. The flaps can then be folded up and the box folded back together.
Like the FEFCO 0711, the FEFCO 0216 is closed with two dust flaps and two lid flaps that fit flush together. A strip of adhesive tape is usually sufficient for closing, but strapping bands can also be used.

The FEFCO 0216 box is made of corrugated cardboard and can be ordered in a single-wall or double-wall design, depending on the required load capacity. The following types of corrugation can be configured and ordered online:
