What is an FEFCO 0711 folding box?

The FEFCO code 0711 refers to a corrugated folding box with an automatic bottom and top flaps. Thanks to its sturdy base, which automatically locks into place when the box is erected, FEFCO 0711 boxes are ideal for quick and easy packaging. Delivered flat, the FEFCO 0711 folding box is easy to store and saves valuable space.

Compared to the FEFCO 0216 with tuck-in bottom, the flaps of the automatic bottom are glued together and interlock “in a flash” when the box is erected. For this reason, boxes with an automatic bottom are also known as “crash lock boxes.”

To make the bottom automatically lock with the four sidewalls, the opposite corners of the box must be pressed together. As soon as the flat box is erected, the bottom flaps automatically move into position, forming a stable and durable closure. The box can be set up both manually and by machine, making it suitable for serially produced goods.

The closure of the FEFCO 0711 consists of two dust flaps and two top flaps that meet flush. The box can be sealed with adhesive tape or strapping tape.

The term FEFCO is short for “Fédération Européenne des Fabricants de Carton Ondule” (European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers). Corrugated boxes are assigned a four-digit FEFCO code to define their exact structural design. This code is internationally recognized – the first two digits represent the basic type of the box. In this case, “07” refers to the group of folding or erectable boxes.
