Paper types vary in surface texture, color, opacity, and strength. Smooth papers deliver brilliant print results, while rough papers offer a distinctive tactile feel. The degree of whiteness and light reflection influence the visual effect, while opacity ensures that the print on the reverse side does not show through.
Paper usually consists of cellulose, but can also contain wood pulp or recycled fibres. Various fillers such as resins and minerals ensure a smooth surface and the necessary impermeability to light.
