PE vs PP vs PVC – which sticker material is right for your application?

Material PropertiesTypical application
PE (polyethylene) Highly flexible, waterproofDeformable packaging
PP (polypropylene) Dimensionally stable, scratch-resistantRigid surfaces
PVCParticularly robustTechnical specialist applications

PE labels are the best choice when flexibility and reliable adhesion on deformable packaging are key. PP stickers, on the other hand, are ideal when the label needs to remain flat and dimensionally stable. PVC stickers are designed for particularly demanding indoor and outdoor applications.

Typical applications for PE stickers

PE stickers are mainly used where packaging may deform during use, while the sticker still needs to adhere reliably and remain easy to read. Typical applications include:

  • Cosmetics and personal care products, such as shower gel, shampoo or lotion bottles made from soft plastic
  • Household and industrial detergents on squeeze bottles, pouches or flexible canisters
  • Chemical products, cleaning agents and lubricants on compressible containers
  • Food packaging, such as squeeze bottles, flexible film packaging and other flexible containers
  • Weather-resistant and durable stickers for warehousing and production, for example on flexible plastic crates, trays or components

Wherever packaging deforms due to pressure or movement, PE stickers remain flexible and provide long-lasting labelling.

Material options for PE stickers

Our PE stickers are available in various film and adhesive options, including some of the most important materials for film-based stickers. All materials are designed for indoor and outdoor applications, dry and wet environments, and deformable containers. This allows you to choose exactly the right combination of appearance, adhesive strength and temperature resistance for your product.

PE film, white, gloss – permanent adhesive

  • Application area: indoor and outdoor use, dry and wet environments
  • Temperature resistance: -20 °C to +80 °C
  • Suitable for: squeeze bottles, tubes, jars
  • Additional feature: thermal transfer printable

This option is the universal standard for many applications. The white, glossy PE film provides a high-quality appearance and creates a strong base for vibrant printed designs and barcodes.

PE film, white, matt – permanent adhesive

  • Application area: indoor and outdoor use, dry and wet environments
  • Temperature resistance: -20 °C to +80 °C
  • Suitable for: squeeze bottles, tubes, jars
  • Note: very premium appearance, ideal for hot foil stamping
  • Additional feature: thermal transfer printable

The matt PE film has a particularly subtle and high-quality appearance. It is suitable if you prefer a premium look or would like to further enhance your PE stickers with hot foil stamping.

PE film, gloss – extra-strong adhesive with high initial tack

  • Application area: indoor and outdoor use, dry and wet environments
  • Temperature resistance: -10 °C to +70 °C
  • Suitable for: deformable containers
  • Application examples: cosmetic stickers, jewellery stickers, product stickers
  • Additional feature: thermal transfer printable

Here, an extra-strong adhesive with high initial tack ensures secure adhesion, even on difficult or highly deformable substrates. This option is particularly suitable for high-quality decorative and product stickers in the cosmetics and lifestyle sector.

Recycled PE film, white, gloss – permanent adhesive

  • Application area: indoor and outdoor use, dry and wet environments
  • Temperature resistance: -20 °C to +80 °C
  • Suitable for: squeeze bottles, tubes, jars
  • Additional feature: produced exclusively from recycled plastics

Recycled PE film combines the technical advantages of PE stickers with a more resource-conscious material choice. It is a good option if you value circular packaging solutions without compromising on functionality or appearance.

Printing, finishing and processing your PE stickers

Labelprint24 produces PE stickers using high-quality digital or offset printing. This ensures sharp logos, pictograms, text and barcodes – even in small font sizes. Variable data such as numbers, batch codes or QR codes can also be integrated with ease. Finishing options for labels, such as protective laminates or UV varnish, provide additional protection for the printed design against abrasion and environmental influences, helping to extend the service life of your PE film stickers. The labels are suitable for both automatic labelling systems and manual application.

Configure PE stickers online – from enquiry to delivery

In the online calculator, you define the quantity, number of versions, material option and adhesive for your PE stickers. You then select the label format and winding direction, either using standard formats or entering your own custom size. At Labelprint24.com, you can also define the corner radius individually, starting from 2 mm and selecting a value between 0 and 10 mm.

Next, choose the colour configuration, from 1-colour black to 4-colour Euroscale. Spot colours and customer-supplied materials are also possible. In the coating tab, you can choose between UV protective varnish and protective laminate in matt or gloss. If you would like to finish your labels and stickers with hot foil stamping, we offer glossy finishes in gold, silver, copper, green, blue, red or rainbow.

Depending on the industry, tactile warning triangles can also be a highly useful option. The configuration options are completed by the extra professional print file check, the option of a barcode check for POS systems, and subsequent thermal transfer printing.

Upload your own print file or use the online designer if required. Production is carried out within short delivery times, depending on the product and configuration. If you have any questions about material, adhesion or print files, our specialist team will be happy to assist you personally.

FAQ about PE stickers

What is the difference between PE stickers and paper labels?

PE stickers are made from plastic and are significantly more resistant than paper labels. They are waterproof, tear-resistant and, in many applications, resistant to chemicals. At the same time, they remain flexible, making them particularly suitable for curved or deformable surfaces such as bottles, tubes or pouches.

Are PE stickers suitable for food packaging?

Polyethylene is widely used in the packaging industry and, depending on the specific material, may be suitable for food applications. The decisive factors are the exact material, the adhesive and the applicable legal requirements.

For projects involving food contact, we recommend coordinating with our sales team to ensure that the label material and construction are suitable for your product and meet the relevant regulatory requirements.

What temperatures can PE stickers withstand?

The usable temperature range depends on the film and adhesive. Depending on the selected option, our PE labels cover approximately -20 °C to +80 °C or -10 °C to +70 °C. For chilled or frozen applications, or applications involving higher temperatures, we can support you in selecting the right material and adhesive combination.

Which adhesive options are available for PE stickers?

For PE stickers, we offer standard permanent adhesives and, depending on the material, extra-strong adhesives with high initial tack. This allows both easy-to-label and more demanding substrates to be labelled securely. You can select the appropriate option in the configurator or together with our advisory team.
