Stickers for cosmetic products with a no-label look

Transparent Stickers in a No-Label Look

Transparent stickers – often referred to as clear labels – are ideal when you want your packaging to become part of the design. Glass, coloured liquids and premium surfaces remain visible, while your logo, product variant and mandatory information sit cleanly on top. The result is a modern, high-end appearance, with no white edge or visible backing material distracting from the overall design. This is exactly what makes the no-label look so popular across many industries.

It is not only about appearance, however, but also about reliable planning. You may need to reorder recurring designs consistently, adapt variants quickly – such as fragrance, flavour or language versions – and apply labels smoothly during production. Transparent stickers are a strong solution for this, provided the material and artwork are set up correctly.

Typical applications include cosmetics and personal care products, such as bottles, jars, tubs and dispensers, as well as drinks and delicatessen products in glass packaging, household and cleaning products, and premium branding on high-quality packaging.

Transparent stickers made from PP film: material and properties

At Labelprint24, transparent stickers are produced using glossy transparent PP film. As a film-based solution, this material is robust, suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, and designed for temperatures ranging from -20 °C to +80 °C. The film has a thickness of 49 µm, equivalent to 0.05 mm, and is also thermal transfer printable – an important feature if stickers need to be supplemented, coded or marked at a later stage in the production process.

The PP film supports a clean, clear appearance while remaining highly practical for everyday use. Particularly where stickers are handled frequently (warehousing, order picking, dispatch) or used in environments where moisture may be present, a film-based material is often the better choice compared with paper. It is less sensitive to environmental influences and helps the sticker maintain its fresh, high-quality look for longer.

Finishing: a premium look for transparent stickers

Transparent stickers can have a very minimalist appearance – or be deliberately designed as premium stickers. At Labelprint24, the following finishing options are available for transparent stickers:

  • Glossy hot foil stamping in gold, silver, copper, green, blue, red and rainbow
  • UV protective varnish in matt or gloss
  • Protective laminate with a matt, gloss or soft-touch finish

Transparent stickers with white print: setting up HPI-White correctly

The most important aspect of transparent stickers is colour impact. On transparent film, CMYK colours often appear translucent without a white underprint, as the background shows through. This may be intentional (for a subtle, modern look), but it can also mean that logos on dark bottles or coloured containers do not have enough contrast.

If your design needs to be vibrant, colour-accurate and easy to read, a white underprint is recommended. At Labelprint24, white is set up in the print file as the spot colour “HPI-White”. It is important that the coloured elements are placed precisely above it and set correctly to overprint. This creates a defined white base on which CMYK colours can appear cleanly – without any unwanted transparency.

Practical tip: Do not apply white “across the board”, but use it specifically where opacity is needed (e.g. logo, text fields, barcode areas). This keeps the look light, saves surface area and creates a more premium effect than a film that is completely backed with white.

Transparent stickers: quick print file check for clean edges

Small errors are particularly noticeable on transparent stickers. Even minimal misalignment, missing bleed or text placed too close to the edge can quickly make the result look unprofessional. To ensure that your print file is set up correctly, please follow the specifications for labels on rolls:

  • Safety margin: keep important content (text, logo, codes) at least 2 mm away from the die-cut contour
  • Bleed area: extend backgrounds at least 2 mm beyond the die-cut contour
  • Die-cut contour: create as the spot colour “Stanze” and set to overprint
  • File format/colour: PDF/X-4:2010, CMYK colour space
  • Image data: at least 300 dpi, depending on the size
  • Fonts: embed all fonts or convert them to outlines
  • White print: define correctly as the spot colour “HPI-White”

If you regularly produce campaigns or product variants, it is worth creating a clean master layout. Once set up correctly (including die-cut contour, bleed and white print), variants can be created quickly and with fewer errors later on.

How to proceed: find the right transparent sticker in 5 steps

  1. Clarify the application: substrate (glass/plastic), environment (moisture/handling), desired look (with/without white print)
  2. Choose the format and contour: standard shape or custom shape to suit your packaging
  3. Select the material: transparent PP film (glossy) as a clear base
  4. Add optional finishing: hot foil stamping, laminate or varnish for premium branding
  5. Check the print file: bleed area/safety margin, die-cut contour, CMYK, HPI-White

FAQ about transparent stickers

Are transparent stickers and clear labels the same thing?

The terms are often used in a similar way. What matters most is the material and application: transparent stickers made from PP film are ideal for creating a no-label look and are often used for cosmetics, drinks, food products in glass packaging and household products.

When do I need white print for transparent stickers?

A white underprint is recommended if colours need to appear opaque on dark bottles, coloured packaging or high-contrast surfaces. In the print file, white is set up as the spot colour “HPI-White”; the colours above it are set to overprint.

Which print file rules are most important for transparent stickers?

Keep text and other important elements at least 2 mm away from the die-cut contour and add a 2 mm bleed area for backgrounds. Please supply your file as PDF/X-4 in CMYK, with the die-cut contour created as the spot colour “Stanze” and set to overprint.

Which material does Labelprint24 usually use for transparent stickers?

The standard material is glossy transparent PP film with a thickness of 49 µm. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications and can be used in temperatures ranging from -20 °C to +80 °C – making it a practical choice for products used in retail, warehousing and dispatch.

Which finishing options are available for transparent stickers?

For premium designs, you can choose glossy hot foil stamping in gold, silver and many other colours, depending on the selected configuration. We also offer UV protective varnish in matt or gloss, as well as protective laminate with a matt, gloss or soft-touch finish. These options are particularly suitable for cosmetics, delicatessen and drinks products where logos or seals should be highlighted with a high-quality effect.

Is there a print file check for transparent stickers?

Yes. The basic print file check reviews your file for general print suitability, helping to identify typical errors at an early stage. For complex layouts, custom shapes or white print, a professional print file check can provide additional peace of mind.
