Definition: What are cardboard inlays?

Cardboard inlays are used to reinforce packaging so that products inside are optimally fixed and protected during transport. The inlay fills the cavity between the packaging and the product and thus prevents unwanted movements. It is ideal for safely storing sensitive or multi-part items in product sets: For this purpose, the carton is individually die-cut for each product so that the items can be perfectly inserted into the insert.

Materials

We offer the inserts in different types of cardboard. Cardboard is an extremely robust and stable material that is also light. In concrete terms, this means that an insert made of cardboard only slightly changes the weight of the shipping packaging, but gives it significantly greater stability. This additionally protects the boxes from impacts and they can be stacked on top of each other in retail without any problems and without giving way and damaging the contents.

Recycled and natural cardboard

Both recycled and natural cardboard are made from wastepaper fibres and are resource-saving and environmentally friendly. This makes them the perfect material for sustainable inlays.

  • Natural cartons from Labelprint24 are neither bleached nor coated, which is why they have a natural brown colour on both sides.
  • The recycled cartons are coated white on the front side and are therefore very easy to print on, while the reverse side is natural with its grey colour.
  • Both types of cardboard have a high stability and therefore protect the goods optimally.

With their natural look, the design of the natural and recycled cardboard is matched to their material. The inserts made of recycled and natural cardboard thus show environmental awareness in every respect - also because they are easy to recycle themselves.

Cellulose cardboard

Cellulose cartons are made from cellulose and have a smooth surface and therefore a pleasant feel.

  • The cartons are coated white on both sides and are very easy to print on.
  • Cellulose cartons are extremely resistant to bending and tearing as well as robust, which is why they can be used particularly well for protecting goods.

Chromo board

Chromo boards are made of cellulose and have two different sides: A white coated front side and an untreated back side.

  • The smooth, soft top side is excellent for printing.
  • The white or beige reverse side has a slightly rough feel and impresses with its sustainable design.
  • The boxes have a high strength and stability.
  • They are ideal for fixing and protecting sensitive goods in the packaging.

The inlays are also used in the cosmetics industry: Glass flacons with perfume are fixed in the packaging and can thus be transported undamaged. For cosmetic sets with products of different sizes, the inlays are also ideal for positioning and fixing the items individually so that there is no unwanted movement within the box and the products do not damage each other.
