EB-flute of Labelprint24: from the material to the wave

At Labelprint24, our cardboard boxes are made from corrugated cardboard. Corrugated cardboard is an environmentally friendly material and is produced in paper processing. The cardboard is a combination of "air" and paper and offers an ecological and economic advantage. When paper is fluted or corrugated, it acquires a special stability. By gluing together at least one corrugated and one smooth paper web, a single-sided corrugated board is created. If the corrugated paper web is glued in the middle between two smooth paper webs, a single wall corrugated board is created. The more layers of smooth and corrugated webs lie on top of each other, the more stable the corrugated board becomes. In addition, the cardboard is particularly load-bearing and has an excellent cushioning effect. Your products are optimally protected with corrugated board packaging.

Characteristics of the EB-flute

A wave is produced in different dimensions, from which different types of waves have emerged. The wave types are determined on the basis of the wave division (t) and the wave height (h). The upper categories of these wave types include the finest, fine, medium or coarse wave. The E-wave is also referred to as the finest or microwave. It has a wave pitch of 2.6 to 3.5 mm and a wave height of 1.0 to 1.9 mm. In contrast, the B wave is a fine wave and has a wave pitch of 4.8 to 6.5 mm and a wave height of 2.2 to 3.1 mm. The shaft types with high shafts and a larger pitch are suitable for heavy goods and merchandise. There are also possible combinations of corrugations. If you combine an E- and B-flute, you get a two-flute corrugated board - the EB-flute.

EB-flute structure

The EB flute is the most popular flute combination and is also called double flute. The two individual flutes (E- and B-flute) are glued together with an intermediate wall. The E-flute is used as the outer flute because it is easy to print. This combines the best features of an E- and B-flute: An increased load capacity of up to 30 kg and a flat surface for printing.

In addition, the E flute is used as an outer flute because it offers an optimal print result. The packaging thus achieves an excellent marketing effect at the point of sale. Thanks to their high load-bearing capacity, EB corrugated cartons are also ideal for use as moving boxes. Acting sustainably with corrugated board

As already mentioned, corrugated board is an exceptionally environmentally friendly product. Not only the corrugated board itself, but also the production is resource-saving and energy-efficient. The paper from which corrugated board is made is obtained from renewable raw materials in the corrugated board industry. The origin of this paper lies in the forests, which are managed sustainably. Conscientious forestry management ensures that the tree population in Europe is constantly increasing. On top of that, hardly any trees are felled for production. The primary raw material for paper production is obtained from broken and thinned wood during the maintenance of managed forests. About 80 per cent of the annual production volume of corrugated board consists of recycled material. After the chemicals, impregnations and adhesives are removed from the cardboard, the corrugated cardboard can be almost completely recycled.

The combination of sustainability, stability and low weight makes corrugated board a simple and ingenious packaging material.
