Digital Hot Foil Printing - Digital Metal from the InkJet Printer

There are many ways to refine a packaging product and enhance its emotional impact. Metallisation with a gold or silver metallic effect is particularly popular, as it makes packaging appear especially valuable and luxurious.

In order to fulfil our customers' wishes for high-quality refined printed packaging, Labelprint24 offers a new, innovative embossing process for digital prints: digital hot foil stamping. This is a modern finishing method that creates visual metallic effects in a top quality previously only known from classic hot foil stamping.

The advantages of hot foil printing

With conventional hot foil stamping, the stamping tool accounts for a large part of the fixed costs. The embossing die has to be made separately for each change of motif. The lower the print run, the higher the unit costs. Digital hot foil printing no longer requires an embossing tool. Job changes are made purely digitally by computer. This shortens production time and guarantees low unit costs regardless of the print run. These advantages make metallic embossing cost-effective and profitable, especially for one-offs and folding boxes in brown, black and white short runs.

Digital hot foil printing is suitable for many types of paper and cardboard. The finishes are applied with sharp edges exclusively to the desired areas. Full-surface decoration of larger areas is possible, as is the finishing of individual areas or filigree designs.

By overprinting the silver-coloured metal foil with other colours, a variety of metallic tones can be created. Special films can be used to create holographic effects. These are relevant for security labels or counterfeit protection for pharmaceutical packaging.
